NEWSLETTER
WINTER / SPRING UPDATE
There has been some interesting
changing of the positions of the deck chairs by the new government.
What I have noticed in my travels around clients is that there is some
good activity at the moment but getting paid is becoming a problem.
I predict that there will be some more lively business activity in the
short term prior to GST increasing but be prepared for a flattening out
in the October – Feb 2011 sector as cash flows are squeezed.
The removing of additional money from the economy by way of GST, Emissions
Trading and ACC charges alone will affect us all. There will of course
be the usual rounded up of prices and flow through of rises which happens
when these situations come along.
WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING ALL YEAR?
Murray worked right through Xmas this year helping
a client with a buy out and also relieving as a caretaker manager for
another for a six week stint. He also has been working on a mentoring
programme. As well as this he has again been regularly presenting for
the Otago Chamber of Commerce.
Murray would like to congratulate his client Ian Beker of Southland disability
Enterprises on being awarded a QSM in the Queens Birthday honours list
on top of winning the BDO Spicers Sustainable Development in Business
Award at the VERO awards last year.
Graham has been comfortable with regular articles
published in various magazines and continuing involvement in a major Otago
tourist attraction. He has also been commissioned to contribute in a military
history book on the Otago Mounted Rifles.
Barry is still flat out in forklift and related
training South Island wide and still has a full book. Bookings essential.
SPONSORSHIP
Once again we have been selective but sponsorship has produced good results.
Hamish Cross did very well in the Hamilton Street Race in the Suzuki Class
with a best finish of 6th in an 18 car field in only his second meeting
in the car.
This followed his winning of the 2010 New Zealand Championship Title for
Rotax Max (heavy) Karting. This, and a 4th placing in the Australian Nationals
last year, and other outstanding results should see Hamish selected to
represent New Zealand to contest the World Rotax Karting Championships
in Italy later in the year.
Chris Dixon also featured in winning the 2009 Dunedin Kart Club annual
points trophy for Yamaha heavy class as well as 2nd place in the 2010
Mainland Series meeting in Invercargill.
